Anguilla: the Anguilla Foundation Act—opportunities and threats, and the global financial crisis in perspective

Harry Wiggin*

*Harry Wiggin, Consultant, Webster Dyrud Mitchell, Victoria House, PO Box 58 The Valley, Anguilla, British West Indies. Tel: +1 264 461 2060 ext 206; Fax: +1 264 461 3096; Email: hwiggin{at}websterdyrud.com; Website: www.websterdyrud.com

The author explores the consequences which the world financial crisis might have upon international offshore centres. In particular, he introduces the reader to international attempts to regulate the international financial centres which were undertaken at the beginning of the new millennium, and then leads on to the current US ‘Stop Tax Havens Abuse Act’. In the light of these recent developments, the author then outlines the main features of the Anguilla Foundation and includes also many practical issues which might arise when administering an Anguilla Foundation.
